Sponsorship, what is it ?
Since its creation, the Dominican Experience has very much intensified its implication in the university sponsorship. It isn’t about fulfilling a short-term need as much as about being preoccupied by these people’s future, who are mostly students.
- It is bringing financial aid that will allow a future student to be educated.
Of course, the sponsorship is individual. You will sponsor a Dominican, of whom you will know the address and their history. You will receive a minimum of four letters a year.
Who can I sponsor ?

Different for each person : about 2,500.00$ CA per school year

We remind you that your donations are deductible at
60%
of your deductible amount of your revenue within the limit set by law.
To allow you to do so, we will send you a receit each year, certifying the amount of your donation.

Can I choose who we sponsor ?
The sponsors allow young adults to be provided with schooling in a university where they can learn their language and their culture.
The sponsorship can also help kids or adults by giving them a formation for a professional training.
Can I decide on the country of the sponsored person?
You have a choice between Dominican Republic and Haiti.
Can I have proof that person received the money?
It depends on the situation of the young peson. Here is a preview:
- The student is taught in a university that we are affiliated to. 100 % of the money is given to the Christian Brothers and the administer the amount. The projet is run under volunteer. There is no cost on administration
How much of my money will be given to the person that I am sponsoring?
The first proof is without a doubt your correspondence with the young person that you are helping. We are also available to sponsors who wish to have more information, by:
- Giving the coordinates of the Solidarity Foundation
-Showing the receipts to those who come to visit our main office in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and sending them by mail for others.
- We can organize a trip for sponsors who wish to go in the country of the person they are sponsoring and meet them.
How much does it cost ?
If you decide to sponsor someone, you can consult the files of people waiting to be sponsored and choose the student whose face will have moved you.
We can also assign you someone, prioritizing the most urgent cases. We always have a waiting list
We try our best to respect your preferences, but we more importantly we have to be aware of the needs of the people waiting to be sponsored.
How do I communicate with that person ?
The interest of sponsoring is to create a direct and long-lasting relationship with the student you sponsor. The first mean to establish an exchange is by correspondence. We require from the participants that they keep their sponsor informed of their activities (five letters per year).
In most cases, the correspondence happens via e-mail, a Christmas card, etc… It is more and more frequent to communicate by e-mail, in larger cities that have easy access to Internet. The correspondence is done in English, because French is too rarely taught in school.
Is the money I give tax deductible ?
Your donations are tax deductible, based on the deductible amount of your income within the limits set by law.
For this purpose, a receipt is sent out to you each year, stating the amount you are giving as sponsorship as a donation.
